Wanting and Longing

While meeting with some local writers, I shared a new flash fiction with them. One of the guys read it and was furious because he enjoyed it.

I hadn’t given him as much as he wanted with the story. He wanted more, he even demanded more.

Friends, this is what I’m in the game to do. If my stories don’t leave you wanting more, at least on some level, then I have fallen short. It might only be enough to make you wonder for a moment what happens next. This is enough since it means I have evoked a sense of wondering and imagination in your own mind.

This isn’t the first time I’ve been given these comments. Those who read my first and second steampunk stories often gave me the same reaction: “I want to read more!”

It’s a brief bit of joy, but I love whenever it happens.
